Crewe & Nantwich 19 - 0 Sandbach.
Sandbach under 16's visited the Vagrants on Sunday for what was hotly contested match between 2 very evenly matched sides
The score lines doesn't reflect to story of the match and although Sandbach failed to trouble the scorers, it wasn't down to lack of effort, but more down to the desire in defence by the Nantwich lads.
Crewe opened the scoring early in the first half, it came from good quick attacking ball which released Zak Pederson on one of his barracking runs. He broke through 4 Sandbach tacklers to score under the posts. Joe Waterhouse stepped up and added the 2 points for the conversion.
Crewe continued to pressurise Sandbach giving them very little time to execute basic skills, this forced Sandbach to give away a penalty inside their own 22, the Crewe forwards take all the credit for forcing the opportunity as Jacob Upton stepped up and took the tap penalty to himself and crashed over for the second C&N try of the day.
The match remained at 12-0 for the next 20 minutes with both teams putting some good phases of play together. Mistakes were made by both teams and it looked like the score was going to remain unchanged. C&N we’re not finished though. After some quick hands off a set move in the backs. Centre Rob Hough broke a couple of attempted tackles on the halfway and set off avoiding a few more tacklers on his way to score a great individual try under the post’s. The conversion was added by Joe Waterhouse.
Many thanks to Sandbach for the game, we wish you all the best for the rest of the season.
